Just as how excited we were to start the construction of our soon-to-rise two-story home, there are a bunch of documents that we need to get ahold of before officially starting construction. At first, we thought we only needed to apply for a Building Permit, little did we know that to accomplish that, we also need to acquire an Electrical Permit.
We immediately headed over to the Mandaluyong City Hall, where we’re planning to build our home, and inquired about the requirements for an Electrical Permit. The City Engineering Department gave us a small paper along with a list of requirements we have to complete. These are all required under Article 1.2 of the Philippine Electrical Code 2009, by the way. Let me share it with you:
- Filled Electrical Application Form
- Photocopy of PTR/PRC of Design and In-Charge Electrical Engineer
- 5 sets of Electrical Plan With sign and Seal of PEE and in Appropriate Metric Drawing
- Scaled drawings with the following:
- Location and Site Plans (this is not a vicinity map)
- Bordering Areas showing public or well-known streets, landmarks and /or structure and owner’s land drawn to appropriate metric scale unless the extend into the areas concerned;
- Location of Service Drop, Service Equipment, and Nearest Pole of utility company (MERALCO) furnishing electrical; location of the meter as well as sizes of service entrance wires, conduits, and service equipment.
- Legend or Symbols (Refer to Appendix A – Electrical Symbols of PEC)
- General Notes and/or Specification
- Electrical Layout
- Schedule of Loads
- Fire Alarm Circuits
- Design Analysis / Voltage Drop Calculations / Short Circuit Computations
- Single-Line Diagram
- Location and Site Plans (this is not a vicinity map)
